WORLD POLIO DAY - October 24, 2020
The Rotary Club of Healdsburg (Noon) is marking the historic progress toward making this a polio-free world.
In 1988, there were 350,000 cases of polio in 125 countries. Today, polio cases have been reduced 99.9 percent, and just two countries continue to report cases: Afghanistan and Pakistan.  Our "Green Hair Day" fundraiser has been our principal method for raising funds for the eradication of polio, and has been acknowledged for merit in the District. How do our members raise money for the Green Hair Day campaign to end Polio?
Members contact friends, family, neighbors and business contacts for pledges, in return for our members painting their hair green and marching in the St Patrick's Day parade.  Due to the pandemic, we had to go virtual in 2020, yet our club went forward with our efforts and raised $16,000 for the eradication of polio.
We are uncertain how we will structure our efforts to raise funds for Green Hair Day in 2021 but we will be creative, have fun, and get results.
