Healdsburg's Community Calendar & Resource

Welcome to this website and the Rotary Club of Healdsburg, located 70 miles north of San Francisco in the beautiful wine country of Northern Sonoma County. Our club has about 80 members and is part of the worldwide family of Rotary International with 32,000 clubs and 1.2 million members in 168 countries. Under the motto "Service above Self", we provide our expertise, time and money to improve our own town as well as communities worldwide.

In Healdsburg we have many ongoing projects such as: Meals on Wheels support, the Annual Foss Creek Clean up Project, the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, the Healdsburg High School Career Day, the Senior Thanksgiving Lunch, the Relay for Life Pasta Feed, the Healdsburg Hospital Cafeteria painting project, multi year financial support for the Healthcare Foundation of Northern Sonoma County and the Children's Bike Safety Project.

Our Scholarship Fund, a 501 (c) (3) foundation, provides scholarships to graduating Healdsburg High School students. The value of the fund is currently about $160,000 and we intend to increase this to $250,000 over the next four years in order to create an endowment. We also support our local elementary schools with a classroom reading program as well as a hygiene and nutrition program: "My Body is Healthy".

This year's Rotary International President D.K. Lee's motto is "Make Dreams Real". Part of that program is to complete Rotary's long time efforts to eradicate polio. Rotary has received a $100 million challenge grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This grant will be matched by Rotary in three years and our club is well on its way to meet or surpass our part of this challenge. In addition our club is partly funding a micro financing organization called Village Hopecore in Kenya and we have supported Safe Blood Africa in Nigeria as well. We are currently looking for additional international service projects.

Our annual fundraising event, this year on December 13, The Rotary Crab Feed and Auction, has been a local tradition for more than 25 years. In the last few years we have raised more than $60,000 annually, all of it going to support our local and international projects. If you are interested in attending please contact me at: henkpeeters@att.net

I hope you will join us at one of our meetings held every Monday at 12.15 pm. I am sure you will find the meetings enjoyable and informative.
